Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
- Could use the Knowledge organiser to sort examples into active and non-active by referring to the visual prompts and vocabulary list.
- Could use the Resource: Emotion and feelings to describe how an activity makes them feel.
- Could listen to an adult or peer model a full sentence using the provided sentence starters, then rehearse their own sentence orally before speaking to the group.
Pupils working at greater depth:
- Should compare how active and non-active activities make them feel by explaining at least one similarity and one difference using the sentence stem ‘Both… but…’
- Should extend their explanation by linking their chosen activity to a physical change in the body (for example, breathing faster or feeling warmer) and explaining why this happens.
- Could draw and label an illustration showing the physical changes in their body during an activity to support and deepen their explanation.
