Adaptive teaching
Pupils needing extra support:
- Could use the Resource: Emotions and feelings to identify how characters felt by pointing to a matching feeling before explaining their answer.
- Could discuss how they are the same as and different to others with an adult before the lesson.
- Could listen to the story on the Resource: Social story to think about why being different is good and how they should respond to difference.
Pupils working at greater depth:
- Should explain how differences strengthen a community (for example, the class).
- Should begin to explore discrimination by considering why the characters were treated unfairly in each situation.
- Should share their answer to the enquiry question with the class.
