Number recap
As a class, count from one to thirty-one in French.
Number chain
Explain the activity below, modelling on a whiteboard or flipchart where necessary.
On a mini whiteboard, ask the children to write J'ai - I have, and a number in French between one and thirty, e.g. J'ai dix - I have ten.
Underneath ask the children to write Qui a - who has, and a different number in French between one and thirty, e.g. Qui a vingt ? - Who has twenty?
Model how to play by reading out an example phrase, e.g. J'ai dix.Qui a vingt ? The child who wrote J'ai vingt stands up, says their phrase and asks their question. Carry on in this way with the class listening to identify if their number is asked for.

Vocabulary and translations
Previously a generalist Primary teacher for 12 years, Simone now specialises in Languages. She is MFL Consultant and Languages Teacher at Robin Hood Primary. Her work with Mandarin Chinese resulted in the IoE Confucius Institute for Schools awarding her school with Confucius Classroom status. Simone is also a Confucius Classroom Manager. She teaches Mandarin across the key stages, with reciprocal visits to a link school in Beijing.
Simone has created a range of French lessons from KS1 to KS2 for Kapow Primary.
