Lesson plan
This activity revisits learning from Lesson 3: Expressive painting to help the children recall key knowledge.
Ask the children to stand and pretend to hold a paintbrush. Use the Presentation: Personality words to call out words that describe people, such as energetic, calm, thoughtful, playful, brave, shy, and confident. Ask the children to use their hands and arms to create expressive brushstrokes that match each word.
Encourage the children to vary the speed, size, direction and pressure of their brushstrokes.
After each word, invite a few children to demonstrate their brushstrokes. Discuss how expressive (showing ideas, feelings or mood through artistic choices, such as colour and brushstrokes) brushstrokes can have an impact (how an artwork or artistic choice affects the viewer). Ask:
