1. Recap and recall
Display the Presentation: Describe the properties and ask the pupils to talk to their partners about the materials the objects are made from and why they are suitable for their purpose. Take feedback and clarify any misconceptions, referring to the following:
- Frying pan (metal and wood): the metal gets very hot so it cooks food.
- Trainers (fabric and rubber): the rubber soles give the wearer a good grip on the ground.
- Balloon (rubber): the rubber is stretchy, allowing the balloon to get bigger when blown up.
- Kite (fabric and metal): the fabric is lightweight and helps the kite fly in the sky.
