1. Recap and recall

Before starting this unit you might want to check children can recall:

  • That we live in the continent of Europe.

  • That the 'UK' stands for United Kingdom and is made up of four countries.

  • The name of the country they live in.

  • That the four countries of the UK are England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

  • Human features are the characteristics of a place which are created by humans (e.g. roads, buildings).

  • Physical features are the characteristics of a place that occur naturally (e.g. lakes, mountains).
