Lesson 4: Seasons and dates in French

Using their recently learnt vocabulary for the months of the year and numbers one to 31, pupils carry out a class survey to find out the dates of their peers' birthdays and translate written dates from English to French

Pupils should be taught to:

  • Engage in conversation, ask and answer questions
  • Develop accurate pronunciation and intonation so that others understand when they are reading aloud or using familiar words and phrases

During the week

  • Write the full date in French on the board and get one child to read it out each day so it becomes familiar and part of everyday language use.
  • Consider creating your own calendrier (calendar) for your classroom. Here is in example: ‘DIY Calendrier pour les enfants’
